OpenNEMI

A Data Sharing Substrate for Distributed Artificial Intelligence

More

About

OpenNEMI is a Fraunhofer FOKUS data exchange platform for distributed AI applications.

We live in a data-driven economy and more and more information is generated every day. At the same time, a need for highly efficient data ecosystems araise. However, exchanging data across distributed systems in a reliable, real-time, secure and privacy-aware manner can be challenging. With OpenNEMI, our extensible Network and Edge Data Management Interface, we address these issues by leveraging our more than 20 years of in-house expertise in network convergence, artificial intelligence, and data visualization. OpenNEMI establishes an open data-sharing substrate by tightly integrating into edge and (5G/6G) communication environments to enable data sovereignty, extraction, exchange and analytics for AI driven use cases.

Research Directions

NEMI aims at providing support and speeding-up research, by facilitating the know-how transfer from Fraunhofer FOKUS towards customers. It serves as a consistent basis for testbed deployments for trials and pilots as well as for the further development of new standard oriented functional features. NEMI enables researchers and engineers from operator, vendor and academia, around the world, to understand and to perform practical experimentation and demonstrations on latest data management capabilities within a realistic running testbed environment.

Data Sovereignty

not all data should leave specific jurisdiction

Data Extraction

not all data are available and have the same format

Data Exchange

not all data have the same priority, value and volume

Data Analytics

not all data provide insights without inspection
